Can I take part if this is my first triathlon?

Yes! This event is organized for those who wish to experience the fun of taking part in a triathlon.

Can I take part with my friends as a team?

Yes. There is a relay category where you can participant as a team of 3. The first member will do the swimming, the next member will do the cycling and the third member will do the running.

How long would I take to complete the triathlon?

It really depends on the category that you are participating in as well as your fitness level. Generally, it would take about 20 minutes to complete the shorter category, and about 40 minutes to complete the longer category.

Will I know my timing after I completed the event?

This is a non-competitive event and no timing will be taken. Everyone is a winner. However, you can time yourself during the event.

How can I register for the event?

You can register online here. Payment has to be made to the teacher-in-charge of your school. Registration is only considered completed upon approval by your respective teacher-in-charge. Please check with your teacher-in-charge on your registration status.

How do I know who is the teacher in-charge from my school?

Your school will inform you who the teacher is. However, you can approach your HOD PE/CCA for further assistance.

What is the registration cost?

Registration fee for this exciting event is $38/pax and $28/pax for the individual and team category respectively. Registration fees for the family race is the same as the team category.

Will there be a refund if I do not participate in the event?

Registration is final and there will be no refund once the registration has been completed. Nevertheless, you are still entitled to your event pack filled with sponsored goodies.

Is there any limit to the number of participants to the event?

Yes. Registration is only limited to the first 1800 participants, so register now if you don’t want to miss your chance!

What if I have medical or physical conditions?

We would advise that participants seek medical advice prior to the event if they have any medical or physical conditions. Please also indicate on your registration of your conditions, so that our safety team can ensure your safety and enjoyment of the event. Please also let us know any medical or physical conditions during registration.

What is the Parent Consent Form?

It is important that your parents/guardians give consent for you to participate in this event.

How does the team relay works?

A team is made up of 3 participants; one would do the swimming, the next person would cycle and the last person would run to the finishing line.

How do I register for the Family Relay Category?

What am I entitled to as a participant?

Each participant will be entitled to a event pack which consists of the event shirt, a swim cap, race bib, race information booklet as well as many more goodies from sponsors.

When and how can I collect my event pack?

Your school’s teacher in-charge will collect for all participants from your school and distribute accordingly one week before the event.

What if my event top is the wrong size?

Approach your teacher in-charge to make the necessary changes. Do note that no change of top size will be allowed after the registration has closed.

Event Preparation

What should I bring along for the event?

Compulsory:

  1. Your swimming gear (swimsuit and goggles)
  2. Event Swimming Cap
  3. Event Singlet
  4. Your cycling gear (bicycle and helmet)
  5. Your running gear (running shoes)

* You must be fully clothed for the cycling and running leg. Running shoes must be worn for your feet protection.

Optional:

  • Sunblock lotion
  • Towel

There will be great offers from the event sponsors, so you might like to bring some additional pocket money to get some cool stuff. Also, you and your family can go for lunch together after the event. Be sure to pack your bag before you sleep on the night before, so that you don’t have to worry about forgetting to bring anything.

What should I eat before the event?

We advise that your breakfast is carbohydrate-based as this provides energy for your activity later on in the day, but not too heavy a meal as it might make you feel uncomfortable during the event. For example cereal, wholemeal bread or oats are carbohydrate options to help you start your day.

Are there any special drinks that I should take before the event?

We advise that you hydrate yourself with water. There will be water points set up on the event site and along the route. You can stop and take a drink or refill your bottle. Energy drinks like MILO® will also help ensure your body utilises energy effectively as it contains Actigen-E, a mixture of 15 essential vitamins and minerals that help release energy for usage while you do sport.

Must I watch my diet before the event day?

If you are training for the event, it’s advised that you watch your diet by ensuring you are getting as much nutrients out of the foods you are consuming. Load up on good carbohydrates like whole grain foods and cereal and eat plenty of fruit and vegetables for those vitamins and minerals you require for optimum performance at the event. Cut down on empty calories like soft drinks and sweets/lollies as these provide no nutritional benefit at all.

Event Day Essentials

What time should I report on the event day?

You are advised to arrive at least one hour before the event to prepare yourself. Please refer to the event schedule for your respective category time closer to the event day.

Where should I drop off if I’m taking a taxi?

You can alight at the designated drop-off point near the event site. Marshalls will be there to direct you.

Where should my parents park their cars if they are driving?

Parents can park their vehicles at Carpark E1, E2 and F3. For participants and supporters’ convenience, there will be a shuttle service at these carparks to transport participants to the event site at Carpark F2.

What happens if it rains on the event day?

Depending on the weather conditions, the event might be delayed or cancelled. The Event Director will assess the situation and make the decision. In the event that it is cancelled, please note that there will not be any refund of registration fees.

What are the safety measures in place for the event?

There are various safety measures to create a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants. Marshalls and First-Aiders will be stationed on-site to assist  those in need. Participants are advised to watch out for their own safety and the safety of their fellow participants.

Can my family and friends come and support me?

Yes, your family and friends can come to encourage you. They are free to move about, but they must stay behind the safety barriers and away from the course.

What should I do once I arrive at the event site?

  1. Place your cycling and running equipment in your allocated spot in the transition area
  2. Do your own stretching and warm-up exercises
  3. Walk around and get to know your route
  4. Pay attention to all instructions, briefing session and stand-by time
  5. Drink lots of water! (don’t get dehydrated)

Where can I find help if I don’t know what to do?

Our friendly Officials and Volunteers (wearing a MILO shirt) will be around the event area and along the event route. Please approach them if you need any assistance, and they will do their best to help you.

Are parents allowed to help?

As this is an individual event, participants are encouraged to complete on their own. Parents are not allowed to assist the participants during the event in any way, but they may help you set up before the start of the event and collect your belongings after the event. Please note that collection of your bikes and belongings in the transition area are not allowed to be taken out of the transition until the event has ended and/or the Event Director has given permission to do so.

What are the flag off timings?

Participants will be flagged off in waves. Please refer to the race details for your flag-off timing closer to race day.

How would I know where to swim/cycle/run?

There will be route markers throughout the event, as well as our friendly volunteers to help you if you are lost. You can familiarize yourself with the route map (under event details) before the event.

Am I allowed to go to the toilet during the event?

We advise you to go to the toilet before the start of the event. If you need to go to the toilet during the event, you can approach any of our volunteers and they will guide you to the nearest toilet. After which, you can continue the event from where you left off.

What do I do after I completed the event?

It is free and easy for you. You can cheer on your fellow peers who are still doing the event, or you can visit the various sponsor booths. There will be great offers, so bring along some extra pocket money.

How do I prepare myself for the event ?

Keep active by exercising regularly. Short swims, cycles or/and run sessions will prepare you for the triathlon. You might like to approach your physical education teacher for assistance.

How would I know what time to standby at the starting point?

The event emcee will announce the categories to standby. Please be ready by the standby time as indicated in the event schedule.

Will there be other activities going on during the event day?

Yes. There will be some fringe activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Swimming

Are swimming aids (floats, flippers etc.) allowed?

No, they are not allowed as these may obstruct other participants swimming. All participants should be able to swim confidently without any assistance.

What swimming stroke must I swim?

There are no restrictions, but freestyle/front crawl is recommended.

Is it compulsory to wear swimming goggles?

No, it is optional, but you are strongly encouraged to wear goggles for safety.

What if this is my first time swimming in the sea?

There will be swim buoys and lifeguards in the water as well, so you need not be afraid of the water. Moreover, the area you are swimming in should be shallow enough for you to walk if you decided to stop for a while. So, just swim normally as you would in a swimming pool. For the first time, we will also be conducting an optional open water swim clinic for free. Please click on the "SWIM CLINIC" tab above to find out more.

What if I receive the wrong colour swim cap?

You can swop for the right colour swim cap at the information booth on the event day.

Cycling

Are participants allowed to share bikes?

There will strictly be no sharing of bikes among participants. This is for safety and security reasons. Only participants with the corresponding bib number and bike tag number are allowed to take the bikes.

Must I wear a bicycle helmet?

Yes. It is compulsory for all participants to wear a helmet when they are cycling.

What if I don’t have a bike?

There are bike rentals for participants who do not own their own bicycle. You can rent a bike for $25. Please indicate in your registration form.

When and where can I collect my rented bike?

You can collect your bike from the bicycle point on the event day itself. Please bring along your collection coupon.

Do I need to rent/buy a helmet too?

All rentals of bikes include a helmet.

Can I rent a helmet or bike on the event day?

No.

Are training wheels allowed?

Yes, they are allowed, but we encourage participants be able to cycle without them.

Running

Should I wear a hat during the run?

There is no need to, but you can if you feel comfortable wearing one.

What should I wear during the run?

You are strongly encouraged to wear the event singlet with comfortable running shorts and running shoes.

Transition Area

What is the Transition Area for?

It is for participants to switch over to the next leg of the event. After swimming, you will enter the transition area to put on your clothes and shoes, take your bike and start cycling. After cycling, you will park your bike in the transition area again, and start running towards the finishing line.

How can I get dressed after I have completed my swim?

You can put on your top and shorts over your swimsuit in the transition area.

When can I collect my bike and belongings after I have completed?

You cannot collect your bike until everyone has completed the event. This is for safety reasons, as we do not want the transition area to have too many people during the race. The Event Director will announce when the transition area is open to all. Only 1 adult is allowed to accompany the participant into the transition area before/after the race. This would also allow us to enforce security of the bikes and belongings. Please note that the organizers will not be responsible for any loss/damage to the bikes or belongings.

Are there bike racks in the transition area?

Yes, bike racks will be available in the transition area.

Where should I place my bike in the transition area?

There will be signs to guide you. You are to place your bike at your designated spot. You can approach any of the volunteers for assistance if you are unable to find your spot.
